Dear Fairphone community,

Tonight, August 25, 2026, we are starting to roll out a software update for the Fairphone (Gen. 6) & (Gen. 6+) .

This is a staged roll out, so you may not receive it right away.

Software Version Information:

  • Model: The Fairphone (Gen. 6(+)) / FP6(+)

    • This update is only for FP6 & FP6+ EU devices. For FP6+ US devices, this update has already been released (16.104.0) as the 1st software update for the US launch. Meaning that US customers already have it and EU customers are receiving it today. Going forward EU & US devices will receive the same update.

  • OS Version: Android 16

  • Software Version: FP6.QREL.16.100.0.20260727183253

  • Build ID: FP6.QREL.16.100

  • Security Patch Level: August 5th, 2026

  • Update Size (from previous MR): 54.61 MB (54605495 bytes)

  • Fixed an issue where screen flashes green randomly for a momentary time
  • Fixed notifications remaining occasionally hidden after unlocking the screen
  • Fixed an issue where videos recorded via 3rd party apps had low volume

Oh… upon reboot all settings that previously had to be reestablished, like VoWIFI, roaming etc. were kept! Yay!!

No those are not addressed and thus kindly discuss in the respective topics.

The update went well, and all the settings remain unchanged this time :+1:

Carrier: Dual SIM: Congstar (DE) and Simpel (NL).

The WiFi bug hasn’t been addressed, though. This is a major issue affecting almost all users. With so many new people getting into the FP6+, I really think this should be fixed ASAP. Otherwise, it might put people off.

Update went well with Vimla! In Sweden. 5g remained off as NFC, VoWifi etc.

Slightly adjust the screen and font size up. It made a WORLD of difference for me trying to hit the right key :rofl:

I can’t install this update. Is it related to having the European fp6 in the USA & I actually need the USA version? If so how do I get that version to install manually?

You cant get the US Version with an EU device and going forward all will get the same.

Update went well, everything works fine! But the battery health dates are still wrong (both dates are 1 Jan 1970)

Ever since I bought my FP6 I’ve had this problem, although I never asked for help with it.

All good in Italy with Fastwed/Vodafone.

I am unsure if it’s the same issue (since it’s not random), but my screen flashed green exactly when the screen dims from not being used. So the FP6 screen dims after not being used, and a few seconds later, it turns off completely, and at that transition between full brightness and dim, it flashed green for me. It didn’t happen every time the screen dimmed, but this green flash never happened at any other point of usage of my phone. I will pay attention whether or not I see this happening again.

Installed it today, I got it a few days ago (DIGI, Spain) but nowadays I prefer waiting to see the mileage of other users before updating. So far everything works. If I encounter the green flash, I will report back.

since this update my phone randomly reboots, I joined the forum in hopes of finding others with this issue. Not quite sure how to debug this.

Hi @CH23, welcome to the forum.

When the random reboots happen, what are you doing on your phone? Is it just sitting idle on the table, are you using it actively? Is there any specific scenario which triggers a reboot (ex. always in the same app, always multitasking or anything similar in all the reboot situations)?

Updated my phone this morning.

The notification brightness issue seemed to be fixed lately, it is now back again after this update.

I’m not able to read notification when they come, as brightness is too low. Note that, as many users, adaptative brightness is off so my screen is very bright. Not the case of locked screen when it wakes up for notifications though.

Consequence is that I miss notifications, or I am not able to read them unless unlocking the screen.

Hi Kwasow,

One of the times I was on the phone, the other few times I was doing nothing with the phone. one of the times I woke up and my phone had rebooted 4 hours before that.

Today it has not crashed/rebooted and righ now has a 21 hour uptime.
