Update went through fine.
The first thing I tried was the camera, as I’m really waiting for improvements in this area to fix major bugs. I have mixed things to report.
- recording video in 1080p with video HDR enabled still looks abysmal. Extreme edge sharpening artifacts and soft edges at the same time that make everything look very, very, very bad and are even worse when enabling standard stabilization. It’s unusable. In 4k it works fine with and without HDR and/or stabilization and looks good but of course uses much more space. (which is why I want to use 1080p as a default) This wasn’t mentioned as fixed but it’s still a major issue. Video in 1080p records fine using GCAM (but that suffers from the next bug…)
- Audio recording when taking video is a mixed bag. It seems it’s not become any worse with the standard camera software, more testing is needed. However, it still doesn’t work with some 3rd party apps like gcam ports or blackmagic camera - the volume levels are so low there, they are unusable. Using Opencamera I at least have several microphone settings and one of them works now, which is an improvement.
I’m glad to see there’s active development going on and I really hope the very annoying remaining camera quirks will be addressed in future updates.
