Hello Sarah tnx for the patch info are the new display driver fixing the random fps drops? I have alot of them, but loveing the fp 6 very much just got it a couple of days!
The first thing I tried was the camera, as I’m really waiting for improvements in this area to fix major bugs. I have mixed things to report.
recording video in 1080p with video HDR enabled still looks abysmal. Extreme edge sharpening artifacts and soft edges at the same time that make everything look very, very, very bad and are even worse when enabling standard stabilization. It’s unusable. In 4k it works fine with and without HDR and/or stabilization and looks good but of course uses much more space. (which is why I want to use 1080p as a default) This wasn’t mentioned as fixed but it’s still a major issue. Video in 1080p records fine using GCAM (but that suffers from the next bug…)
Audio recording when taking video is a mixed bag. It seems it’s not become any worse with the standard camera software, more testing is needed. However, it still doesn’t work with some 3rd party apps like gcam ports or blackmagic camera - the volume levels are so low there, they are unusable. Using Opencamera I at least have several microphone settings and one of them works now, which is an improvement.
I’m glad to see there’s active development going on and I really hope the very annoying remaining camera quirks will be addressed in future updates.
I’m still seeing some frame rate problems. The worst case is in Roon Arc which seems to run some screens at very low FPS. I’ve verified that the app is smooth on my Pixel 6a.
EDIT: Actually looks like I’m also still seeing the refresh rate/FPS drop after unlock problem.
Unfortunately, the update is a bit disappointing for me. The screen still occasionally stutters after unlocking. The automatic brightness also jumps up and down in dark environments. I haven’t found any improvements to the user interface so far, and unfortunately, there are still a few bugs. For example, when you pull down the status bar, the bottom edge of the media player isn’t displayed correctly. You have to swipe up a bit to display it correctly. Unfortunately, the 4x6 grid for the home screen is still missing. I still have to test the camera to see if the update has made any difference.
Oke i still have the same fps drops afther the new update! This is not cool i have the phone only for a couple of days now and this fps drops are regularly! I hope the Fairphone team can resolve this problem quickly!
Yeah, I try to. But the refresh rate issue is really annoying and I’m affected from another confirmed software bug regarding the screen that isn’t discussed in the community forum. That makes it really hard to be patient, especially when some people already got a bugfix… Additionally, I don’t remember such delays with the Fairphone 4 and Telekom Germany in the past (aside from the last 2 releases, which were delayed by weeks).
