update starts appearing

I’m on the Bouygues Telecom network in France and am still on FP5.VT2P.C.089.

So you’re already 2 updates behind, not counting this one. I have an idea that when phones get two or more versions behind, they may fall out of eligibility for more recent updates.

As you know from reading the forum, swapping the SIM (different carrier) often helps. Here is a quite convoluted example (different phone but similar problem):

As you’re in France, try to borrow a Free SIM, I’ve never had update problems like that with mine.

That would mean a phone unsused for some time lying around would never get any update again and thats so far not what is happening

Finally, that’s great! Thanks!

Just a heads up to others, the reboot took unusually long after applying the update. The phone was on the green boot animation for over a minute, maybe even two. But it’s all good. It’s going to proceed normally.

Some more informations about that ?

What’s simplified ? No more code ?

Yes no more code the FP5 was the last one to get this update

update went well, but after the reboot I’ve experienced some issues:

UI was not very reactive, the home (quickstep) crashed, fairphone seems more hot than normal and phone health inform me that ~ 80% memory was used (see image)

It’s not normal after a cold boot. But now seems became normal

:face_holding_back_tears:

is it really done?

I applied this last update mostly because of this changelog line, because I was about to install CalyxOS on my FP5. But it seems that this update also introduced an anti-rollback protection, which actually bricks the device if you try to re-lock the booloader after installing an older OS on the phone.

Here is the CalyxOS page which talks about this issue: CalyxOS temporarily unavailable after manufacturer updates

Hello and welcome to the community forum

That mechanism was not introduced with this update, I would say it is a few years old.

You always have to ensure that the SPL you install is the same or newer than the previous one when you want to relock the bootloader. So when Calyx Os currently is behind just wait for the nect one. As said anti rollback protection was introduced in Android phones years ago.

I assume Calyx just had unfortunate timing with their release relative to the FP5 update.

Still on FP5.VT2M.C.084 for me
FP support told me to perform manuel update or send my phone to repair… (because they found no reason for my device not to see the available updates, even on Bouygues Telecom my operator)

Will try the SIM from a different operator if I can

Finally Proximus customers are getting updates at a normal speed again.

I had been waiting for 2 months and 10 days for the Software Update: FP5.VT2P.C.089.20260311 📲 update and I never actually ended up receiving it. But this thursday I did get this one. I really hope that updates from now happen at a good frequency again to all the carriers.
The phone was very unusable for those months because of the ram app killing issues as mentioned in FP5: Android 15 killing background apps more aggressively to the point where I felt embarrassed having recommended the phone to people…

This is good news, it means that something can be done for phones who were “stuck” to former firmwares

I am stuck on 2M.C.084: were you on this same version before finally getting 2X.C.107 ?

I was stuck on an earlier version than that, iirc one from february

2M.C.084. is the release with the february security patch level (released on the 23rd of Feb) !
There is hope
