Got the update.
Tested the camera. I don’t feel any difference.

Side note: did this update change the little android creature on the boot screen? Or was that changed two months ago with the A14 update? I swear that looked new.

dont remember a creature? on FP5. i kind of remember the little greenish droid? back in the ancient android days maybe Android 4 or so?

I mean the green droid

Hi all,
I tried to install the update UT27.B.059.
It installed normally but when I press the restart button the following error message appear:
“There was an issue while prapering to restart. Please try again later”.

What can I do?

Thank you very much for any help.

It’s about time :') But I have to be a little more patient, no update for me yet.

I’m getting this same error. If I shutdown and restart the phone and try again, the same happens.

Any help, Fairphone support?

There were some beta testers with the same problem. After a few tries they managed to install.

same here, second try installing it. always erroeed out at that part
Trying the third time…

I did some googling and found the cause, this was a bit self inflicted

At some point I had toggled off “automatic system updates” in developer options. That needs to be on for this particular update to work. Strange as it wasn’t needed for the main Android 14 update! Anyway, toggling that back on and restarting the update has now worked correctly.

I dont rememver ever disabling automatic system updates, but i can report that re-enabling it let me install the new version.

Update went smoothly. Can’t figure any camera improvements (as @Nabalazs mentioned as well)

  • Restored ultra-wide camera support in 3rd party apps
  • Fixed a strange color effect in HDR videos (this one seemed to appear only in certain conditions)

So most likely not relevant to most of us…still important espcially the first point in my eyes

Tried four times now, rebooted in between, no apps running, VPN off. Any ideas else?

Yes this should help

I can confirm that the developer options did the trick for me after three unsuccessful trials without them. Strange… But then it worked smoothly.
After the restart it offers me to select the search engine again which in the past could only be done once during the setup or via some ADB magic. Unfortunately there’s still no option to disable the search bar completely, but that wasn’t mentioned in the changelog, either.

Hi all,

I just received the notification of the new released update UT27.B.059 this morning.

After downloading and optimizing it, it prompts me to reboot for applying the update. But at that step it doesn’t reboot and only says “While the preparation for the reboot there was an error. Please try it later”.

Anyone else has/had that problem?
