Update went well
Update available but failed to download or install
Thank you very much got it right at 18:00 @community is it the first time we have a security level few days before Google publishes it? I am astonished! continue this way FP!
For some reason my FP4 didn’t auto-restart. I let it lie for a few minutes, then just pushed the button myself. Hadn’t experienced that particular phenomenon before.
But other than that, no issues. Are we actually back to a monthly cadence? Not too shabby, if so.
I’m 100% sure we had this maybe a handful of times over the last 10 years and all models except the FP1 (back then IIRC there was no monthly update cadence by Google at all).
similar to what @u_karpatow wrote, I tapped the “restart” button, but the phone only turned off and didn’t turn on again.
After some waiting, i pushed the power button → nothing.
repeat a few times. phone doesn’t turn on, regardless of how long i wait or how long i hold the power button.
i then tried connecting to a charger, wait, with charger still connected push power → stays off
remove charger and push power → stays off.
open phone remove battery, wait a bit, re-install battery, push power → phone finally turns on.
however, even on that boot, the bootup animations didn’t show. there was the usual bright-green on dark-green fairphone text, then a static vertical bright green line (like an upper case I from the fairphone logo), still no animation for uncomfortably long. and eventually the standard lock-screen unlock-sim screen appeared.
phone behaves normal since then, but i take it as reminder to check my backup status.
