Woohoo :tada: “Optimized background process management for smoother multitasking”
Could someone confirm (or not) that this issue is now fixed? Thanks in advance :folded_hands:

edit: as this update is a staged rollout, my phone do not propose it by now… just a matter of time! :slightly_smiling_face:
edit 2: still no update after 2 days, no matter SIM card is inserted or not… will tell you when I receive update notification  received update in late afternoon :white_check_mark:

Please check and confirm in the topic

Check again at :clock6: 18:00.
Probably no one will get it earlier.

Installed smoothly and with no issues.

Update was easy as always.

Installed without issues, but too early to tell if it really fixed the background task issues.

Amazingly, this update was available right away.
Before this I was still on the Jan security update like many Proximus users.

Apparently background process management has been fixed for me.

Amazing that Fairphone did a release basically just to fix this issue (apart from the security patch and the couple of minor things).

Many many thanks, appreciate the effort. :folded_hands:

Got notified by support of this update. It was available and update process worked fine.
Unfortunately it didn’t fix the issue of the previous update 15.16.1 killing the phone’s USB-Data capabilities.

There’s no mention of a fix for that in the release notes.

I have a suggestion that might help: enable USB debugging in Developer options.
Test.
Then disable again for better security.

USB Debugging has no influence on this. One of the first things I’ve tried.

So that refers to the second phone that Fairphone sent you in January?

If I understand aright, you have had USB connectivity problems with two successive phones, each time when installing an update? First phone with 15.15.2, and second phone with 15.16.1?

This sounds highly unusual, to say the least. It looks to me as though you’ll probably have to send back the second phone for the same reasons as the first.

Yes exactly!
I’ve notified their support, that it’s likely caused by the phones being connected to a USB-C hub and Ethernet during the updates, as that’s the only common denominator. I assume it’s unlikely they had been testing for that case.

Update went smooth and no errors.

There’s only one thing I encounter: notifications for various apps are delayed, meaning: when the phone is lying in front of me no notifications showing. I pick it up and suddenly like ten or so from the last minutes arrive.

Those are all for apps that have background data enabled, no limitations for notifications or battery restrictions. Thus everything should work.

When I’ve the phone unlocked then everything arrives even in the background within the second a message arrives or something else…

Can live with it though a bit annoying.

Otherwise the update works fine after a full 24 hrs of usage.

: SOLVED !

SOLUTION: change the new Android 15 notification settings to show all notifications.

Still hiding sensitive notification Details of course.

So all works

Hi, how did you manage to update to A15 as a Proximus user? I’m also with Proximus and am still running A13 with the 5th november 25 security patch…

Just curious: What’s a “previous MR”?

Asking because for me it clocks at 189 MB… :open_mouth:

MR=monthly release and the size can vary for different reasons.

Thanks.

Though there has been no release (monthly or otherwise) since the FP4.QREL.15.16.1 I’m on, has there? So why is my update this big?

(Asking because there have already been some SNAFUs with updates, and I need my phone…)

For me it’s been ways over 1GB since I just switched - successfully  - to A15.

Wouldn’t worry. This update worked fine and no errors or issues found. Nothing to report and I literally tested it extensively including heavy multitasking with two sim and two Android profiles.
