Apologies for the generic and non-specific title. I’m pretty illiterate regarding smartphone technology and since today a lot of issues have been happening that I’m not sure what the overarching cause is, nor the solution. Could anyone help me?
So initially, out of nowhere my phone couldn’t start up anymore, with the screen being stuck at the blue Fairphone screen. I removed all compartments of the phone, and put them back together, to make sure it’s nothing in the hardware. After that I did a full reset. Most of the basic functions of the phone works, but there are still issues:
Apps randomly crash, among which critical ones like Gboard and Settings.
Phone randomly turns off and starts up again.
Cannot update my phone
There’s something wrong but I don’t know what. Maybe someone who has a basic check-list of things I should do to find out what’s the cause? Also, in case I cannot solve this myself, could I reach out to FP to get it fixed? I bought the device several months ago and have the warranty, but I’m not sure if that also includes software issues.
Restart to safe mode - hold PowerButton (or pull down notify two time and pres Power icon in right/bottom) and hold on Restart - this disable all 3rd apps
After Factory reset, try create new account - this prevent restore any settings/data
If problem be also with clean/new account after factory reset, then “sure” be HW problem…
To me this (especially random reboots) sounds like an internal connection problem. Had the phone suffered any physical shock?
Make sure the battery is correctly seated. You might clean battery contacts and matching connectors with a cotton bud and high-grade surgical alcohol. Leave to dry 30 mins.
As already said above, I would definitely contact official Fairphone support. You may be required to send back the phone.
