Selfie sticks: Do people need to be on every picture?

Continuing the discussion from Selfie-stick experiences?.

First of all, I don’t own a selfie stick, and I wouldn’t want one. I can understand, however, that people want to be in a picture for two reasons:

  1. You can download landscape and sights photos without yourself relatively easily through the internet and in most cases they are of better quality than the personal photos.
  2. Family members and friends are mostly interested in the people on the photos. They get bored easily when you show them your photos and you yourself are not in them.

I like to travel with friends and in the most important places we ask locals or other tourist if they could take a photo from us. It’s a nice memory because you are all on the photo and in the background there is some sight or nice landscape.
