Raymond van Eck appointed as Fairphone’s new CEO

We are excited to announce the appointment of Raymond van Eck as our new CEO at Fairphone, effective August 31. Raymond brings 20 years of international experience in the utilities and online marketing sectors, with key leadership roles at Youvia (De Telefoongids/Gouden Gids), Powerpeers, easyEnergy.com, hoyhoy.nl (BGL Group) and Nuon/Vattenfall. He has a proven track record in digital transformation, branding, entrepreneurship, and revenue generation. Raymond was chosen by the Supervisory Board, after an extensive search.

At his most recent role as Youvia’s CEO, Raymond significantly improved its customer acquisition and loyalty score. His commercial acumen, strategic vision, and commitment to sustainability will help guide Fairphone as it enters its next growth phase.

Raymond succeeds Reinier Hendriks, who is stepping down to pursue other opportunities. The Supervisory Board thanks Reinier for leading the company during the last few months, and laying the foundations for Fairphone to be successful going forward. We will be officially introducing Raymond to our lovely community with an AMA session in the near future. Stay tuned for details.

Outgoing CEO Reinier Hendriks has also shared some thoughts on his tenure at Fairphone.
I tested the following link in a private browser window, and it seems it’s readable without an account there:

No kidding. I thought I had missed something when I saw that. Wonder why the old CEO bailed?

Read his statement on LinkedIn, more will surely not be made public…

Here’s his LinkedIn statement on why he’s leaving.

Doesn’t really say why, but hopefully he’s going to be liking his new job and the new CEO will do well.
