Protective Cover

To be clear: I own a Fairphone and I am satisfied… there’s just one thing I don’t understand. A new display costs nearly 100€, it’s ok… but why does a simple “fair” plastic cell phone cover cost 40 €? I’ve been thinking about it for a long time, but I can’t figure out why.

the prize of the phone is the result of intentional policies and should cover not only the workers benefits but also the sourcing of the materials and software/support related efforts, plus some extra social initiatives.

It makes sense then the other products offered by the same company would follow the same logic, hence will be less attractive in the eyes of price -oriented consumer.

That’s all clear, but think about the complexity of a display as opposed to a plain plastic casing. The fact that “fair” is more expensive is obvious, but this disproportion, in my eyes, is not.
