problems during phone calls

Hi, my boyfriend gave me a fairphone 2, and when I am calling someone it happens everyday (not just sometimes) that the call suddenly stops and when I remove the phone from my ear to see what happened I see or the flight mode on or the line fell. And it is incredible annoying, because I have to call someone everyday two times.
What can I do?

Cannot make a single phone call without something going wrong

Is it possible that the touchscreen is active while you hold the phone to your ear, resulting in your ear navigating the phone, doing stuff? If so, please calibrate the proximity sensor … Settings - Maintenance - Proximity sensor.
