Problem with the selfie camera

Hello,

I have a pb with the selfie camera. If i run “Open camera” , everything is perfect on the screen (i do a screenshot for showing the pb as you can see of the LEFT of the picture

But, when i record the picture into the phone, i see all the time a picture like THE RIGHT of the picture

I don’t have the pb with the other camera from the back

What do you think please ?

I have a Fairphone3, the last upgrade 10, i use Open camera , i try to remove/reinstall this app, reboot the phone and try another app but same pb…

Regards

Hey,

I just tried it on my phone and got the same results - just so you know that you are not the only one. I don’t have any idea yet how to solve this problem.

Did you adjust the settings of Open Camera in any way? Maybe this information could help…

Hi JC,

no problems here with FP3, Android 10 and Open Camera.
Have you tried deleting cache and data from the app?

Best wishes,
Thomas

Is Open Camera the stock camera on FP3? If so it is working fine on mine. I know this doesn’t help but confirms at least it is not happening on all phones.

No, Open Camera is a third party app by Mark Harman that you can download from the Play Store

and numerous other app stores. At least on the FP3 with the “old” camera modules many people have found it superior to the stock FPOS camera app, which is from Google (but not the Google Camera app which is officially exclusive to their Pixel devices).

I don’t think that app cache and / or data ist the main problem here. I just installed Open Camera yesterday on my Android 10 FP 3 and only made a few changes in the app settings so far. Nothing “special” though…

Thanks I gave it a go and got the same results as JeanChristophe. The image being stored is exactly the same and looks like a problem with the way it is being converted to save it. I tried changing the settings but none I tried including lowering the resolution to 8MP changed the result.

Open Camera has a community forum at

Do you experience this with Open Camera only, or with other camera apps as well?
So, is it looking more like trouble with the app or with the camera(-module)?

Since I don’t use the selfie camera too much, I had the same question in mind. But in combination with the standard camera app it seems to work as expected. So I think the problem is with open camera.

It seems to me that this is a problem with OC when using the original camera API. With camera2 API it works just fine for me.

OK thank you all.
I try with the native app and it’s working . Very strange but it will use that for the time
