I have just purchased a Fairphone 5 but have not used it yet as I have had to send for the charging cable. In the meantime, I have been trying to register the phone for the extra three years warranty. I have still not been able to register the phone and ‘customer help’ has been useless. My browser is Safari running on iMac with Mac OS. I wonder if this could be the problem. Any suggestions welcome, thank you.
What does it mean CS was useless, what did they say? What happens when you try?
I contacted customer support via their chat line. After explaining that I could not get past the first page of the registration process as the ‘date of purchase’ was not being accepted, I was asked to upload a ‘screen grab’ of the error message. This I did. I was then sent an e-mail with some technical instructions which I didn’t understand and promptly ‘signed off’ with ‘It was a pleasure meeting you and have a nice day’! I was extremely angry. I expected more from Fairphone.
Possibly. It is advisable to at least have a second browser at hand for a “second opinion” on a website with a problem.
Sometimes when a site doesn’t seem to get along with my Firefox (perhaps with some settings of mine), I’ll just try with Vivaldi (which I left on default settings mostly). If both fail, in most cases the issue is not on my side.
In case you have the opportunity, did you try already with a different browser or different computer?
Can you quote these technical instructions here?
As this happened again, the date qas correctly entered and not a future one?
And maybe you share the screenshot of the error as well?
The solution is to register on the phone itself, although even this is difficult.
Do NOT use the Safari browser.
I’m still interested in the technical instructions Fairphone gave you.
Perhaps we can spot something that can be phrased better and give feedback.
