Although Fairphone claims to be able to load very fast with a 30W charger, I am more interested in a Powerbank that can load the fp5 really fast, to avoid situations on the road where you cannot navigate anymore, especially since the battery is not that large.
It appeared to be very difficult to find a powerbank of 30 W that is compatible with fp5. The max upload power seemed to be 8W. Even the Anker Nano Powerbank did nut load faster than 11W. Looking for compatibility with PPS or QC4.0 and taking a 60W cable - as recommended by Fairphone - did not help.
Accidentally I discovered a powerbank that loaded with 18W, so I would like to inform other fp5 users about it. It is the Bluebuilt 10 000 mAh 20W Powerbank sold by Coolblue for 39 euro. This Powerbank is compatible with PD3.0 and QC3.0 only (according to Coolblue), so I am flabbergasted that it does fastload the fp5 anyhow.
A quick search reveals the Anker Nano does do 30 watts charging. In fact, I’m having trouble finding anything vaguely modern that doesn’t do 30 watts.
Make sure you use a C-C cable. And that peak charging rates happen at low battery levels, and assuming the phone isn’t heated up.
Aside from these, look for powerbanks that claim they can charge a nintendo switch faster than it drains. That assumes a certain speed.
What do you mean by “ a quick search’ ? Did you test it yourself? I did in any case, using a USB C-C 60 W cable, a battery load of 20% at the start (I loaded the fp5 from 20% up to 50%) and room temperature.
I have a spare battery for my FP5 in my jacket. Fastest recharge to 100%.
Reading the product description of powerbanks that are on top of google results. And I specifically looked up the anker nano to see what it claims it is capable of.
I thought of that too. But the spare battery has to be charged in the fp5 itself. That did not seem very comfortable to me and the fp5 does not seem to be made for very regular replacement. How is your experience up to now with that?
It charges in less than an hour and I only need my spare battery once in a while. It’s also smaller than a powerbank.
Well then, if you are satisfied with that, do as you please. For me, the taste of the pudding is in the eating.
