Power button without the "click"

Hi all
After a day on the sandy beach, the power button no longer responds with the normal ‘click’. I think some dirt has got in. How can I clean or replace the button? It doesn’t seem like I can get to it. Is the whole frame not available as a spare part?
Thank you for your help.
Thomas

As far as I know the power button is part of the core unit.
I would like to suggest to dismantle the phone, see for instructions dismantle Fairphone 5.
Perhaps you can find some dirt.

Hi Lidvien
Thank you so much. I will see if i can find any dirt.

You could also clean the connectors? For cleaning use isopropyl alcohol or ketonatus alcohol (at least 90% or even a higher percentage).

I have a similar issue. I tried cleaning out the area with isopropyl alcohol, but no luck. I suspect a mechanical failure.

I’m surprised there isn’t a solution to this common problem. Would much rather buy a new frame than have to send it back.

I opened a request about four months ago and haven’t heard back. My fingerprint sensor is also starting to fail. My request number is 1290899. Please help, thanks.

I cannot help with the ticket, but just in case it gets worse and lack of button feedback becomes lack of button functionality, here is a workaround (that also works for the FP5):

We sent our FP5 in under warranty and the fault was fixed. The device was in for repair for around four weeks and then had to be reset. Annoying, but at least it’s working again now.
