Power button lauching camera when I try to lock or unlock

It’s been 3-4 days now that each time I try to lock or unlock my phone by pressing the power button the camera lauch itself… very annoying. To lock it it eventually work if I press several time, and I also discover that if I press gently in a very specific location it’s locking without lauching the camera, but it’s not working every time… Anyone have any idea of what the problem might be ?

Welcome to the Fairphone community.

Looks like the power button is kind of worn out and is bouncing. So it creates a double Click and the phone is set to open the camera with it.

Thanks for your reply ! Do you know if their a way to disable this double click function that I never use anyway ?

I disable the function and it’s working perfectly now thank you

While that’s a good exlanation I’m worried about the longevity of the power button. It can only be a little bit more than a year old (at a maximum), it shouldn’t be worn out yet.

That is what I am concerned of too. I have one of the first FP5 and the exactly same problem. Though I am using the double tap for camera.

I think, I’m going to open a service request.

You right… The button almost doesn’t work now… I have to press 10 times before finding the right spot to unlock it…

I opened up a service request. Let’s see what they respond

I must say that I have the same issue, and my phone is only a few months old, and the power button doesn’t seem loose or worn out in any way. I do use this double tap thing for my camera and do not want to disable it, but it’s really anoying that wanting to lock my phone opens my camera almost every time…
Are we sure that it comes from a worn out power button ? I do not intensively use my phone, and would be really surprised and deceived if my button was worn out this soon…

Mine is right now at a repair center. Let’s see what the diagnosis says

I have the same issue, bought my FP5 in Nov 2023. I noticed it started opening the camera often when unlocking so I disabled that feature about a week or two ago, but now the screen simply won’t turn on at all when I try to unlock it. Works after 10+ attempts with the power button.

Interested to hear what the repair center says. Is this with Fairphone, or a local repair shop?

Cheers,
Kris

It was Cordon in France. Fairphone said, I should send it there, so the official one I would say.

I got it back yesterday, they say, they couldn’t find anything. Till now it seems fine, as the factory reset solved it. (Or they did something without mentioning it)

If the problem comes back I will report.

As expected, without doing anything, nothing changes. Problem still occurs. Already wrote support, but no answer till now.

I think it depends on where I push the button. If I get the middle, it works. More to the top of bottom the double trigger happens more often. But this still needs confirmation.
