postmarketOS on Fairphone 6

Hi everyone,

Did some people try postmarketOS on the FP6 ? I know it’s new and it’s possible to install it on the FP6 and there are lot of things who don’t work but idk maybe some of you tried it.

Hi,
As far as i know there was no recent discussion about postmarketOS in this community. So we do not have must info about the availability and challenges. Maybe look into older threads

@Coke2625, that MediaWiki page lists all that’s known. You can see that at least @lucaweiss has installed PMOS on it:

As you can see on the Wiki page at https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Fairphone\_(Gen.\_6)\_(fairphone-fp6) quite a few must have things like WiFi, mobile data, calls, SMS are broken at this time. So…

Yeah yeah i saw too, but we maybe have some testers on the forum, idk.

I’ve been tempted to try it just need to work out a good way to backup an e/OS install to restore after doing testing as this is my main and only device right now. However the e/OS state of things in 2025 with all the additional app bloat in the base ROM is pushing me to just want to drop Android all together, and postmarket seems like the way.

Agree with you but pmOS is not fully compatible with the FP6 yet :confused:

So I really want to try out postmarketos for a while but I don’t won’t to harm my storage in any way because I have banking apps on my phone and my question is. Can I boot postmarketos only with a SD card without modifying the android filesystem. So that it is completely normal.

Btw I have a fairphone Gen. 6.
