Possible to display ONLY current time in locked screen?

Did you try this:
Start your phone and swipe halfway on your screen from left to right until you have the current time on the lock screen, then swipe from buttom to the top. Now the Fairphone has learned you want to see the current time.
Next time you unlock the screen you wil see the current time.
Make sure that you now only swipe from bottom to top. Otherwise the phone won’t remember that you want to see the clock.

I belong to the group of people who don’t want to see anything else but the time there (since I perceive the other possibilities completely useless information, and the ownership info doesn’t even work). Even though I know how the lock screen works, it happens very often that I change to something different then the clock unintentionally; this happens very easily and it is annoying.
It would be good to have the possibility to disable other options but the time.

Sorry, Lidwien, not swipe. Id could be, that users swipe low on the screen and therefore activate the dialer. The action for Peace of Mind is: tap on it …

Lidwien, this was the first solution proposed at the start of this post. However, it is not a solution. I, and from the looks of this post, many other users, simply do not want anything but the time to be displayed on the lock screen. Why would anyone consider the length of time they have owned their phone to be so important as to be needed on the lock screen?

Create a new desktop-page with the clock-widget. On the other screens remove all apps. That leaves one desktop-screen with just the clock. Goto settings/security/lock display and chose “none”. Lock your phone, unlock it and voila, you have your wish fulfilled …

I beg to differ. You only have to do this action one time and then the screen will always show the clock on the lockscreen.
It’s important that the following time you start your phone and you see the clock on your screen you swipe from middle icon at the bottom of the screen upwards.

@Lidwien
I might misunderstand you, but the way I get you, it doesn’t change anything. You just set the clock temporarily, but everytime you touch the clock (unintentionally) you change again the settings, isn’t it so?

@Spielmops
If I understood you right, you suggest to turn off locking the phone?
That would neither be a solution, nor possible on an encrypted device.

If you (unintentionally) change the settings, then you have to set the lockscreen again to show the clock.

Ok, then I got you right.
Well, this is exactly what annoys me, because for some reason I permanently manage to unintentionally change the setting from clock to something useless. That’s why I’d love to see the possibility to set the info somewhere in a settings dialogue, rather then to have this easy change via tapping.

When you start the phone you probely swipe from left to right in the middle of the screen, as I did on the FP1.
On the FP2 you have to swipe from middle icon at the bottom of the screen upwards.

Thanks, but that I figured in the meantime. It just often happens that I (or something) touches the info part of the lockscreen, so I often manage to change it.

It is of course not a big deal, but it gets really annoying when you have had to change it back already dozens of times …

Did you read post 5 from Rory and may answer in this thread?

Yes, I did read the whole thread. I only offer a sort of workaround.

I think the misunderstanding is this: the solution is also the reason why the problem exists.
People accidentally touch their screen and cycle through the different views of the lock screen, while all they want is to keep seeing the clock. It doesn’t really matter you can “repair” it by clicking some more times, it would be much more user-friendly if you can “lock” the clock on your lockscreen.

Lidwien, this is not the case, as many of us have stated on this thread. The time does not stay on the locked screen indefinitely. Many times, you take it out of your pocket and it has switched unintentionally to useless information like how long the phone thinks the battery will last - which is useless because it’s just a guess based on recent usage - the percentage of battery is the only useful info. on this. Cheers!

Exactly Danielsjohan. That is exactly the point. I have tried several times to articulate this, but you have said it more clearly :slight_smile:

My phone never ever changed the item on locked screen itself and not in locked status, so I could not understand what your problem is. Now that you state that your phone behaves in another way, now I understand. But I can not believe it.

I always understood the way @Rory describes it, is the intended behaviour of the lock screen widget: you can choose whether you want to see the clock, the battery, peace of mind or “how long do you have your phone”. And it is very easy to change this: just tap the clock/… to see the next “screen”.

If your phone doesn’t have this, how do you change the clock into the battery widget?

I think the best thing to do for people who are annoyed by not seeing the time on the lockscreen - but don’t want to install a different lockscreen - is to vote for the ability to add different lockscreen widgets and hope FP will implement this feature soon.

I think that’s more realistic and also gives you more options than de-interactiv-ating the interactive lockscreen widget…

I remember having voted some time ago.

In any case, whatever other fun features or not, the lock screen should always (also) display a clock with the current time. Otherwise I have to tap up to three times just to know what time it is.
