Phone overheated and then died

Hey,
About two months ago my phone died.
It started with the phone running hot. From my observation some apps like YouTube caused the CPU to be stuck at top speed. E.g. as long as YouTube was open in the background the CPU stuck at 100%. This obviously caused the System to drain the battery and to run hot. Since I needed some peace of mind I listened to YouTube while falling asleep. It looks like the phone got really really hot and consumed more power than the charger provided - now the phone just looks like its turned off .The next day I could not turn on the phone and the phone did not respond to any charger I own. After beeing plugged in for some time it gets a bit warm (not the battery). When opening the phone it kinda has this “burnt electronics” smell. Pressing/holding power button with or without battery installed does not do anything.
Can anyone tell me if the battery is dead or the mainboard? (Should the phone be start without battery installed while plugged in? Would replacing the top-board be sufficient)
If any fairphone employee sees this - please answer my request [3WYJYW-YGL96], I’m really looking to hear from you!

You can be absolutely sure this won’t happen. You’ll have to wait for support. It takes roughly a month these times :frowning:

I report that also my FP5 gets hot about 3 times a year. it drains the battery and shuts down, annoying without long term damage so far

I am waiting for two months now for a warranty case. Wait time is way past one month. It is great having 5 years of warranty for my phone but if I can’t contact anyone in support…
