Went on a walk the other day and got lots of notifications “Phone Service No Service - selected network (EE) not available”. How can I turn these notifications off? I’ve spent ages looking and not got anywhere. The constant pinging was annoying, but I didn’t want to turn all notifications off.
Bit new to smart phones so any hints appreciated.
This might be connected? Or is it normal to have no connection in the areas you have been? i dont know those messages even when there is no reception.
Normally you can “move the notification” till you see a cogwheel to adjust settings?
Sorry I should have said, the area we were walking was remote, and we were likely walking in and out of range - hence the frequent notifications. Not bothered about getting the notifications - just want to make them silent!
Usually you can disable every kind of notification by long-pressing them (some options will appear).
Rather than look for notifications - especially if you forget you disabled them, then need them sometime - the easiest thing to do here might be to pull down the top menu and use ‘Airplane Mode’. This will stop your phone trying to connect to any network and the only indicator you’ll see will be a plane in the top menu instead of a signal icon.
When you get home from your walk or into range again, just pull down the menu, and reconnect by tapping the Airplane mode button again.
Hopefully this is an easier solution than looking for the notification settings!
Many thanks. I said I was new to smartphones. I did this on the relevant notifaction and indeed there was an option for “silent”. So just need to find a place with no signal to check it works.
