I’ve had this phone for a while now, and its really disappointing. There is no wireless charging, which my old S21 had. Fingerprint reader works in some apps, but not when I want to get into the phone, very hit and miss. All in all, I’m regretting buying this phone, but I’m stuck with it.
Which phone are you referring to? I’m assuming you’re talking about the FP6?
“For a while now” to me indicates its not the FP6 and there would be no need to stick to it, it could be returned within 14-days. From the very few symptoms described it could be the FP3?
I don’t use the fingerprint reader at all, but perhaps search the forum for suggestions (looking glass icon top right of the page).
I’ve seen mentions of registering your preferred finger in different angles and/or in different skin conditions, or putting a piece of clear sticky tape over the reader.
I have a Fairphone 4 and had the same problem with the fingerprint reader. Weirdly enough, adding another fingerprint solved the problem for me. That is, I had to have two different fingerprints added. After that the fingerprint reader has worked every time and I’m very happy with it.
I mean… The wireless charging thing you knew before buying. It’s not unexpected
…I feel your frustration but if you’re really struggling with it so much, why don’t you just sell it? I’d say you still could get a few hundred bucks (depending on the condition of your FP 3… 4… 5…?).
Fingerprints don’t change, but you can damage the skin or it get thicker if doing things like playing guitar or doing manual work. Adding more fingers and re-adding existing ones may help. The under-screen reader of the Pixel phones was awful, 50% success rate, these FP ones work better.
Fingerprint reader on the FP6 works like a charm BTW.
