No vibration on FP5

Had the same issue here on FP5. I bought one at the beginning of this year and it suddenly stopped with vibrating/haptic mode. Tried everything, also using the customerservice guide. Nothing worked. I reached out to customerservice and after a few weeks of waiting the customerservice replyed that they were very busy. Another 5 weeks later I send them a reminder about the unsolved ticket. They asked me to send in the phone for repair, I did’nt want to do that since it will be gone for a couple of weeks and requieres a factory reset.
They decided tot send me a sparepart. I installed the sparepart, followed all the steps but unfortunately it did not fix the problem.
Based on the comments in this Topic my next step will be the factory reset. I hope the haptic function is still working after reinstalling all my apps.
I really love the mission and good work of Fairphone but this is a really dissapointing (first) experience.

I had a similar issue with my FP5. In the end it turned out the Redirection vibration setting was turned On. My phone would briefly vibrate on startup, but nothing after that, not even in the service tooling.

Find the setting under System → Keyboard → Redirect vibration send vibration to game controller when connected. Ensure it’s turned Off.

My guess is that a factory reset will turn this setting off, which can explain why after resetting vibration works again. I don’t know why this setting was turned on for my phone, I might have accidentally done myself, but I doubt that.

Interesting, it is also turned on here and vibration works nevertheless. But who knows, probably the bug is connected to this and I guess for many switching this off is much more convenient than a factory reset.

What the hell… I was about to factory reset the phone when I found your comment. Unchecking the “redirect vibration” indeed makes the whole vibration working again. Such a shame it’s so well hidden. Thanks for the tip anyway

I’ve now flagged it as “solution” so this solution proposal is found prominently even under the first post. Depending on more comments the “solution” flag can remain or be removed again…

I think he talks about the fact it’s “so well hidden” in the settings of the phone.

Anyway vibrations works well on my FP5 and I checked still, the settings was on, I turned off, vibrations still worked, turned back on, no vibrations anymore, so definitely a bug somewhere.

Setting was off for me but I can’t say whether I ever turned it off myself.

Settings are a labyrinth and the logic of their organization isn’t always what one expects - though I’m not saying that I could do better!

I think this is a case where the search function in Settings is really of value, though I admit I don’t always think of using it.

Great!!! Thanks a lot!! I have been running around without vibration for several months already… This solution changed my life with my fairphone.

Thank you!
