The screen of my FP3 sometimes remains black when i start it up. pushing on the edges of the screen or waiting and trying again in a bit does solve it, but it just isnt very practical sometimes. i was wondering if anyone else also has had this problem. i am thinking about getting a new screen or a new display module, but i am not sure where exactly the problem lies.
Welcome to the Community Forum.
What you describe somewhat fits to what we sometimes recommend here in the forum: It’s not just the screws between core and display that secure proper connection between the two, it’s also the plastic clamps that need to (ideally audibly) click into place. See Step 9 here (the black font suggestion next to the pin icon):
I’ve experienced something similar with my FP3—screen going black randomly. Pressing around the edges does help temporarily, so it might be a loose display connection. Might be worth opening it up and checking the screen module if you’re comfortable doing that.
i did try this already, unfortunately it didnt help. but thanks for you quick reaction!
do you mean to take out the entire display module,or can you rmove the screen individually?
If your problem is like what happens in this video, try cleaning the contacts. It happened to me a couple of years ago, you can see what they suggested and how I solved it in this post:
