My FP1 : 11 years and counting

Today my FP1 went 11.
And is only for the project World Community Gridworking.
Just a month ago the battery bloated. Lucky I had a spare battery.
So it’s still up and running.

Great to hear! Do you mean that the world community grid project helped you keep your FP1 alive this long?

Nice. Do you have some pics of what it currently looks like?

Mine looks like this with my FP4 as reference.

For daily use I have a Fairphone 5.
But I wanted to keep my Fairphone 1. And to let my Fairphone 1 do work for World Community Grid is a perfect way to make use of my Fairphone 1.

(On top the connector for the magnetic cable I use.)

When I posted the photo of my FP1 at the beginning of the topic, it wasn’t exactly 11 years old (about a month missing), so here is a fresh one from yesterday’s meetup in Hamburg:

To be honest: almost nothing works anymore. The system doesn’t know some of today’s root certificates which means none of the apps still installed (on very outdated versions) can connect to the internet. And when I confirm that I’m aware of the risk and proceed in Firefox, it can’t display modern pages properly. Plus, the phone is ultra-slow compared to what I’m used to now  The first 2 min or so after a boot, the phone is basically unusable because the CPU is overly busy with something.
Plus it has developed ghost touches sometimes. And there is a risk >50% the display turns to noisy colored pixels when waking the phone which can only be fixed with a reboot.
