Hi!
Earlier this evening my Fairphone randomly stopped charging (while being plugged in).
I have tried different cables, but without success. The USB Charging test returns “unknown” on all fields, I tried cleaning the port but to no avail.
What should I do? Should I try to change the USB C port? The phone is still under warranty, but when I contacted support they average response time is indicated as 10/12 days, which for obvious reasons would be way too long. How do you suggest to proceed?
My suggestion would be to reach to the support on Monday via chat, check the hours in advance as they are open only for a few.
I got the impression that once the support confirms the issue is with your charging port, they would be happy to send you the new one ( but they would not always reimburse the one purchased before checking with them)
I have tried to contact the Chat but I have been waiting for 1.30hr without any answer. I need a solution soon, I need my phone to access a lot of different services. Should I just buy a new USBC port and ask for a refund?
Mal eine banale Frage: Wurde es schon einmal mit einem RESET versucht??
Meine zwei FP4 brauchen ab und zu einen Neustart und schon klappt es wieder mit dem Laden - warum auch immer…
Oh sorry - now in english:
A simple question: Have you ever tried a RESET??
My two FP4s need a restart every now and then and then charging works again - for whatever reason…
@Giovanni_Conni , don’t know how old your Fairphone is but mine is 4 years old and I recently changed the bottom module. It was not possible to charge it any longer, the USB-C socket was physically damaged, probably normal wear and tear after 4 years of plugging/unplugging.
Hello Giovanni, I had a similar issue in September. I tried a new, spare battery and different cable, without success. The web chat was helpful, but note that in my post in September I mentioned poor communication between Fairphone staff, which added a delay of a few days before I received the free replacement USB port. I wish you well!
Thank you all for your help and support.
I have acquired and substituted the USB port, and now everything works perfectly.
For the future I will always keep a charged spare battery to be able to access the phone in case of damage.
Thank you again, and have a great day!
