Mobile network disconnected

Hi
Last week I suddenly stopped being able to get signal
anywhere, with a little red cross against the empty bars in the signal
indicator. 3g and internet access fine, but not able to phone out or get
calls in, though messages seem to come (?through 3 G or wi fi?).When
I look at SIM Status it tells me Network: <>, gives
me a signal strength, Mobile network type <>, Service
state <>, but Mobile network state
<> and My phine number
<>
Have I somehow disconnected? Is there some problem with settings?
Many thanks!

I’m wondering.
Go to Settings, Sim management.
What do you see by the default settings of the Voice call?

Thanks for getting back to me - all default settings are shaded out and I
can’t access them (normal I guess) - voice call default is O2 UK - it then
tells me I have a data connection throhg O2 UK. Elsewhere I have just sen
(somewhere!) that O2 UK is being accessed through giff gaff …

Hi
I just swapped my SiM card into the second sim card slot - nw I have no 3G
ignal (little red cross) but I doi have mobile signal.
Now when I look at SIM Status it tells me
Network: ,
gives
me a signal strength,
Mobile network type ,
Service state ,
but Mobile network state still
My phone number
Any suggestions?
Thanks again

Just to be sure.
When you simcard is in the first slot, what does it say by SIM INFORMATION?

The info I provided before was with the sim card in the first slot: all
default settings are shaded out and I can’t access them (normal I guess) -
voice call default is O2 UK - it then tells me I have a data connection
through O2 UK. Elsewhere I have just sen (somewhere!) that O2 UK is being
accessed through giff gaff. The info is the same if I have the card in the
2nd slot.
Thanks

Okay, but I mean the settings above. Does it say that the simcard is ‘on’? If the O2 UK simcard is in the first slot and the voice call default is O2 UK, then you should see a white triangle in the right upper corner of the small rectangle. Is that also with your phone?

Hi
I am afraid I am not sure what you are wanting.
If I go into Settings and then *SIM management *I get the following

SIM INFORMATION

O2-UK ON

DEFAULT SETTINGS

(all are shaded)
Voice call
O2-UK
Video call
O2-UK
Messaging
O2-UK

Data connectionO2-UK

GENERAL SETTINGS

If I go into *Settings *and then About phone and then *Status *and then *SIM
status *I get the following

NetworkO2-UK

*Signal strength *

  • -87 dBm 13 asu*

Mobile network typeGPRSService stateIn serviceRoamingNot roamingMobile
network stateDisconnectedMy phone numberUnknown

Is the information that you need?

Many thanks for your help!

Best wishes

Hi
Sorry, I am not sure how to know if it says that the sim card is on.
In the top left of the screen there is a white triangle with an exclamation
mark in it.
In the same row to the right there is a ‘fan’ I think showing wifi
connection, then a bar chart in blue (I think showing good intenrnet
connection) then a grey bar chart with a red cross (I think shoing no
mobile network connection) then the battery indicator (full at the moment)
then the time…
Does this help?
Thanks for your continued help.
Best wishes

@AndrewDorward Maybe you can upload a Screenshot: Press “power on” and “volume down” buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds and then upload the screenshot from gallery to your post.

In the picture you can see that my provider in the first sim is ‘Holl.Nieuwe’.
In the small rectangle before the name ‘Holl.Nieuwe’ you can see the white triangle.
After the name ‘Holl.Nieuwe’ you can see that the first sim in ‘on’.
Defaults setting of the Voice call is ‘Holl.Nieuwe’
Of course you have another provider but does this look the same with you?

Thanks, that is a great idea
Attached is my equivalent, also the one for SIM status.
There seems to be no white triangle …

It looks like there is something wrong with your O2 UK-simcard. Is it possible to try your O2 UK-simcard in an other phone to see if the simcard is oké.

Hi
Unfortunately we do not have another unlocked phone. to try. However I have

  1. Tried two other other sim cards in the fairphone and both have hte same
    problem
  2. Switched the Sim Card to the second sim card slot, in which case I get
the following (see below, with still no whote triangle but now there is no
data connection while the network connection is ok) - does this not suggest
that the problem is with the phone?

Perhaps you would like to try something else.
Put another simcard in the first simslot (best is to try with a simcard of another provider), and put your own O2 UK simcard in the second simslot.
See if your phone see the second sim, if so, try to make a phonecall. Also check the default settings.

I have done that - and it works, both making and receiving calls, although
there is no white triangle for either card when I look at Sim Information -
but all the default settings are now bright (offering me the choice between
O2 and the provider on the first sim card, T mobile).
I really appreciate your help in this. I am afraid that we are now shutting
down for the night …
