Microphone turns off when headphones are jacked in

Microphone turns off for hangout’s app when earphones are jacked in.

Internet suggested “select TYY VCO” but can’t find any.

What else should I try?

Your phone probably thinks your headphones have a built-in microphone, and it’s switching over to that. But it isn’t there, so you get no microphone functionality at all.

There’s an XPosed module called ‘Force Phone Microphone’ that fixes the issue - just tested it, and it works for normal phone calls and my audio recorder app. You need root access and XPosed framework for that, though.
