Thank you very much, but no. I don’t own a landline anymore. And yes, I could ask someone or use the company’s probbaly. The phone is expensive enough to expect decent services.
They finally got back to me, I will receive a new module - but that does not solve the problem itself. Can I finally rely on this one? Will this one also be broken in a few months? Will I - for the third time - not be able to reached by my boss & partners, etc?

On the othe hand you might try to get some confidence out of the fact, that lots of fairphones - like mine - are equipped with flawlessly working bottom modules.
My phone came back repaired today. In case it helps anyone, the report says that they changed both the top and the bottom modules to get the microphone working again.

I experienced primary microphone issues that temporarily went away by rebooting the phone. #TeamHeadset
So now after writing to the support staff, I’m going to receive a new bottom module. Excited to find out if it will fix my problems!
I have exactly the same thing ! Personnaly, I have triée to change my buttom module with a new one but it doesn’t work too

First microphone bugged:
- I ask to the support a new one and I receve it in few day
Second microphone bugged:
- I read all the 165 posts
- I dismounted and reassembled the microphone with pressing it upwards.
- I go to the Checkup tool : Settings > Maintenance > Checkup > Primary microphone > Start test and putting my charger in the phone and using it to press the bottom module to the top make the microphone work.

Same issue here. Microphone is in&out at first, then stops altogether. It happened last year and they sent me a new bottom module.
It happened again this year, after a software update. I waited two weeks for an answer from support but got nada, so I paid for a new bottom module.
New bottom module arrived in a few days, but doesn’t work. Asked for a refund - nothing.
Still waiting for a response to my support request from 14th November.
Same problem here. Ran all the hardware tests and mics seem alright. First it was only if I was talking with the ear on my phone, then it also started with the headset, now I can only talk with my bluetooth headset or with headphones (without mic) and holding the mic of the phone in front of my mouth. I don’t understand what’s the problem.
I have had the same problem appear suddenly after nearly 18 months of working fine.
Interestingly, my guitar tuner app reports a constant 271Hz (obviously uses the primary microphone) which if I plug the charger in changes to a constant 50hz. I have re-seated the bottom module. there was something sticky on the obverse face which I wiped clean. I did the screws up nice and tight, but no joy. If I press the USB plug in hard and press it down, then occasionaly the mic can be heard faintly.
I was impressed by the troubleshooter and I believe that following through that I am to receive a new bottom module, although I received no confirmation after pressing the link.
My friend has a problem with her microphone too, but the cause seems to be software-related. When she turns the loudspeaker on, the microphone stops working - the other party can’t hear her anymore. When she turns it off again, the other party hears her. But this is unsatisfying, since it basically means she can’t use the loudspeaker function.
She’s running the newest version of FPOS. The problems started a few updates ago. Some time ago new camera modules were also installed, but I doubt this is related, since only the loudspeaker, but not the microphone is housed in a camera module. Did anyone else experience similar problems?
I got the same problem. I fixed it by removing the microphone module, cleaning the contacts with naphtha, and screwing it back.

There are two microphones in the phone. One is used for normal calls, the other for video and conference calls. I believe the second microphone is in one of the camera modules, so what you are experiencing may be related to that after all.

@Johannes Actually the secondary mic is located in the top module. The website is wrong. And it works, according to Checkup.
It is an issue - am on my second replacement and the microphone has a “loose wire” problem.
So when the cover is on, the primary microphone does not work.
Take the cover off and with some judicious squeezing the microphone can be “re-connected”.
Removing the microphone module and cleaning all the contacts does not improve the situation.
It is, in my opinion that it is a flaw to include the USB charging connector close to the microphone as - I think this is the failure mode, if the phone drops while connected the microphone ‘wires’ become ‘loose’.
And I suspect it is enough to toss the phone onto a sofa or similar.
Anyhow, the statement that the fairphone is “built to last” does not align with my experience.
We have just tested it again and now I can hear her even when her loudspeaker is on during phone calls or app-based video calls. Let’s see if the issue comes back. I feel with the users who have hardware problems and am happy we (probably?) don’t have these problems with either of two FP2s.
The problem is back … cleaning the contacts didn’t fix it. It was just a coincidence. Sometimes my mic works fine, sometimes not at all …
Submitting a ticket at the support right now …
My fairphone microphone broke 7 times now, it was replaced 6 times, but now I feel a bit bad for asking them again, especially since my screen also broke (not cracked, just not responding). All have been replace via warranty, but I feel bad anyway, since I want the principle to succeed, instead of go bankrupt over warranty requests.
Are there others where the mic broke often? I am an outdoorsy type, but try to treat my phone decently though.
Moreover, will the FP3 have better hardware, will it have less hardware issues? My previous two phones lasted 3 year (HTC hero, and still operation for my mother since 4 years, that was a really well designed, strong smartphone) and 2 years (LG whatever, screen broke, tried to fix it, but ultimately died indefinitely). FP2 is the first phone where I actually have so much problems with hardware. (seven microphones and one screen).
FP2 personnel: what should I do? Am I the only one who has so many broken mics?
