That makes it hard to decide, which risk to take. 
Would not want to test it, but I would expect, that this can be the case with any other phone as well. The adaptor is focussing the impact directly on the usb-port, that otherwise would have been taken by the case, i.e. a much larger area.
Think about how often you drop your phone and the probability of exactly hitting the ground at the connector. Multiply both and decide if it’s worth the risk. 
I dare to take the risk for a Fairphone 3, where I can simply replace the USB module.
