As other users have reported in previous years, my sim card loses contact (and hence the phone connectivity) when it gets “too cold” (external temperatures ~ < +5°C).
Has anyone been able to solve this problem? Despite a lot of tips, there are no reports of this problem being successfully solved.
Tips include:
changing the SIM card
changing SIM slots
using contact oil
bending the contact pins
Changing the sim cards or their slots doesn’t show any improvements.
The pins are inaccessible in FP3, and I shy away from using any oil in these sensitive mechanics.
If you tried both sim-slots, I would argue it is extremly unlikely they both have the exact same issue. Especially if one slot was occupied most of the time while the other wasn’t.
I think your simcard or something else with the phone is the culprit. Whenever I had the issue (which was very rarely) I restarted the phone and the sim was back online.
I had the issue with a different (old and new) sim card as well. Restarting doesn’t help.
I think the culprit may be some internal connection that gets “loose” when cold. But then I would need a new phone…
PS: The issue is not rare but very replicable. When I leave the house now (around 3-5°Ç outside), the sim will switch off after 2-3 minutes in the cold, and switch on again when I keep the phone in my pocket for a few minutes.
