Has one version of the fairphone had LoRa feature or is there any plan to add it to future version?
It would be a very nice feature to natively be part of Meshtastic network.
You can connect an external LoRa device via bluetooth and use the connectivity that way (speaking from personal experience).
Thank you for this share (may you even point to a product you tested and are happy about) but it would be nicer if Fairphone would natively manage LoRa.
They almost certainly won’t, for a number of reasons. LoRaWAN is a fairly niche protocol at the moment, so including it would require either a custom chip design (unlikely to happen, not enough demand) or including an extra module, and in a phone that’s already pretty space-constrained that seems unlikely (I don’t know if you’ve opened yours up, but there’s not a ton of extra space for an entire board module). Additionally, in order to get any sort of decent signal range and pick up any other nodes, you’ll need a fairly large antenna—mine is about twice the size of the phone. I doubt many people want to have a large external antenna attached to the top of their phones, and anything else is only going to work with very nearby nodes.
