Joe: "My favorite part [of the website] is the forum"

Hi everybody,

read how @anon90052001 compliments the community in an interview with the digital design firm Booreiland!

My favorite part is the Forum, because at the beginning we had a big debate on what would be the best place for people to talk… do people even use forums?… aren’t they maybe just for the nerds, and so on.

in the summer of 2014, that’s when we first launched the new Forum using the Discourse platform and it was really exciting. I didn’t have an idea if it would catch on or if it would work, and so far we’ve had 3 community moderators that almost treat it as a part-time job, they’re on it all the time, they’re really excited about it and they have all these interesting discussions.

With the Fairphone 2 for instance, they presented a wish list before the phone came out, so now they discuss how the new phone has met reality and how it turned out to be. They ask really interesting questions about the fairness of the supply chain, the fairness of the operators and industry. I think they can only do it on the forum, which seems to be the relevant context in the end.
