Is the AOSP email app in active development?

I don’t believe the Open Handset Alliance let known security holes open in any part of AOSP. The email app may not be developed anymore, but if it was totally abandoned they would have removed it from the codebase, wouldn’t they?

Hm, interesting question. The only replacement Google’s got is the Gmail app. So if they removed the AOSP email app there would be no FOSS alternative for AOSP, I guess.
