I’m using Ubuntu Touch and it has Waydroid to run Android apps. Is it possible to install the Fairphone app inside it or I guess in any non-stock OS in general? It’s not really a big deal but I’m just curious because it would be nice to see it when I want to and check some things there
It’s not in the Play Store.
I have it on /e/OS, works fine.
How did you install it? It’s not in the PlayStore. Does Fairphpone provide an official APK?
Sorry for late reply. I have two apps from Fairphone: Fairbuds and Checkup. On /e/OS, they’re available in the App Lounge, whick comes with this spesific OS. I know nothing about the OS you’re running, sorry I can’t be of more help.
I see. Not familiar with App Lounge. Now I wonder if that’s installable on anything other than /e/. Also not sure if Checkup is the Fairphone app preinstalled in stock OS where you see things like how long you’ve been using your phone and some debugging tools.
For differentiation’s sake, there are these apps:
- My Fairphone app – apparently what @kugiigi wants and not on any app store neither provided as an .apk by Fairphone, only partly functional on Custom ROMs. When I tried it 1-2 years ago (on my FP3 running /e/OS), accessing its “My device” (or just “Device”?) functionality always made the app crash.
- Fairbuds app – available on app stores, works on Custom ROMs
- Checkup app – basic hardware tests developed for the Fairphone
, not updated since 2018 or 2019, available on F-Droid, mostly and rudimentarily works on other phones as well (note the FP2 had just two microphones, so Checkup only includes two microphone tests, too)
Thanks for the clarification. I guess it is really not possible to get the My Fairphone app. Anyway, it’s not really a big deal, would have been nice though
