Internet troubles in USA

, ,

I know I’m not wanted here but I had nowhere else to turn to. Lately just doing basic computing like paying bills, watching YouTube, doing App updates, Shopping, even doing system updates here in the USA gives me errors. like something went wrong, Updates unavailable, playback error the works. I haven’t been getting the best upload speeds in my area witch could be the cause of all this. but not being able to use the device you paid for and resorting to an old computer which I was laughed out of the community proving still can connect to the internet many years later still works. all I can say writing this in windows 95 just proves modern devices still have network issues.

anyways rant aside. nothing besides Roku and this computer I’m writing on is the only things working on the network. I haven’t been able to game online or anything. I’ll provide screenshots of what I’ve witnessed over the last few months and with Microsoft spreadsheet i was able to import speed test results into speed test and screenshot it. even with decent download speeds not being able to communicate to the internet company as everything is online these days just further proves how important net neutrality and internet as a right is these days. screenshots below of my issues thanks again and have a nice day.

Hello, your screenshot suggests issues with mobile data connection / SIM card.
Have you done any troubleshooting in this regard?

hi Digimon,
it’s really really unadvisable to surf the internet using such an outdated system, security and compatibility wise. you might want to install Lubuntu or some other lightweight linux distrib on the computer.
As for your network issues, it seems from your screenshot that you’re on the wifi, so I would start from there. Do you have a good provider and service ?

That screenshot says that. It’s just limited data. 5gb per line mobile data is disabled unless I just need it on the road. I mostly rely on wifi calling here anyways.

Yeah I’ve heard that one before. It came down to the modem limitations. 10mb down & up came in handy. And besides still just having issues. Can’t do anything today. Using text only mode in browser to reply.

The T-Mobile home internet hotspot, Straight Talk home internet hotspot, & NAS-LAN are down (In Home network) ie. iTunes, Internet cash, & steam link cash have not worked. Just been reading a book and when it rains try to reply. As of downdetector it currently says a lot of online related services are outright down online as of this moment. Anything that requires an internet connection in my area in terms of service are experiencing outages. It doesn’t help I live in a small town with no way of communicating with the companies with 2,000 population. As my land line is wifi based as well. In the end it tells you the exact reason everything shouldn’t be online. I’m basically stuck.

from what you’re telling us, it might be a provider issue. i don’t know what your options are at this stage to fix or improve your link to the internet, but it may be above our means as FP community members.

Yeah 5G is spotty no matter where one lives. It’s still better than starlink 2mb down and up. The bandwidth isn’t really the bottleneck. It’s the Jitter and stuff along those lines. Before Trump was in office. It was very stable. Able to play GTA V or any high bandwidth title. As time passes the lag is so real that only older consoles can still be played without issue. As fan servers exist. It just seems to me as this administration keeps making changes and the net keeps being very slow. For what my opinion relates to you pay for a service. You should receive that service.

Now it’s so slow that even a stable connection is hard to come by. As one connection relies on Verizon and the ladder is T-Mobile. I used to get a gig down on Mediacom until they dropped our coverage. And the only other service is satellite. No DATA Caps, and stable connection was what drawn me into the service. As your European countrys have the luxury of having Whereas us always had megabytes to terabyte caps. So one couldn’t game for more than a whole 72 hours straight without hitting the limit. Not counting updates and DLC on top of streaming.

As to the reason of this thread. The limitations of communicating was the real concern. I was unable to do anything and still nothing. Today’s ISPs always want certified mail in order to do anything in regards to service. The main reason was try to report the outage to downdetector or something along those lines. What if something came up and I needed to make an important call with no service. Can’t really do that without a way to do so. It’s been this way for two weeks straight. Another reason is maybe we could have a solution to the lag and jitter problem. So as of this post it will be the official start of the third straight week of no service. Spotty and only works when it’s storms outside. And the closest T-Mobile store is two hours away. Not really thrilled to make the drive when every dollar counts towards food. And gas is a luxury item with rising prices here. So I’m at a loss otherwise thanks for trying. I do appreciate that at least.
