Gosh… OK, I am older of age and not the cutest guy (any more) as to technics, software etc
Already had a quarrel with my provider to get the PUK for my new FP5 mobile for days… now I got it but do not know how to activate it.
I am told to enter the PUK into the keyboard of the mobile - I only find one when I open the icon of the telephone. Answer: no message available. That’s clear to me.: so the wrong way.
But Settings-> SIM - I put in the code including the „*“ and *#“ as advised by the provider: Answer: cannot connect to netword. Then I try the PUK w/o these * # digits - same result
The mobile says:
Something wrong with the SIM ? I shall contact the provider.
(Is it possible that the SIM card is not activated yet by the provider himself ??)
In further details the mobile Fairphone 5 with Murena says:
Cannot connect to network
Operation code 9
Error code 10014
You can activate the service with this EID Number
890330xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The provider Vodafone has no clues - they ask me to call them back (haha how ? - my house phone is broken too due to other reasons)
I forgot: I bought this new handy FP5. My old handy had a bigger SIM card (the old classical one)
Now I got a nanoSIMCard from Vodafone.
When I switch it on it just says: no SIM card no service . But the new nanoSIM Card is in the correct slot.
The slot is pointed at to the slot on the above left side in the handy as SIM1.
At settings I see:
Network and Internet
at the line „Calls and SIMs“ it says „No SIM“
Below is the line
SIMs add a network
then comes download e-sims - then i click continue and it shows the menu where to put in the 8 digit code from my carrier (that’s the PUK from vodafone, right ?)
No, that’s a code you receive together with an eSIM, a virtual SIM without hardware. The PUK is necessary, if you manage to brick your SIM card by entering a wrong PIN to often.
I guess you didn’t install your physical SIM correctly, so it is not recognized. You need to push it in to the very end, then it will come out just a little bit again and is locked in the slot.
ummmpffff … I checked the slot earlier this day and all looked fine. Now I checked it again and after some more attempts it looks like it is correctly in the slot… didn’t really seem to „snap“ the card in - but anyway the mobile is now recognized.
(Now going back again to Vodafone for the PIN… )
Anyway thanks a lot
