How to root the FP5 and OTA update - at your own risk

• In Magisk press Uninstall Magisk → “Restore Images”
• Install OTA-update and don’t reboot
• In Magisk select Install and choose “Install to Inactive Slot (Atfer OTA)”, reboot and have fun

This process is not working on my phone. Every time I try it, the update is rolling back while rebooting. Any advice how to make it work?

In addtion I tried to root my device like mentioned in the first post. It does not work anymore (FP5.VT2I.C.072).
After I boot the patched image, magisk offers only to patch a file instead to install…

Step-by-step:

1. Patch the downloaded stock boot.img with Magisk
2. Transfer / adb pull that patched boot.img to your PC
3. Reboot to fastboot adb reboot bootloader and temporarily boot from the patched boot.img fastboot boot /path/to/patched_boot.img
   4.Do not flash that boot.img!!!*
4. Wait for the device to boot (took a bit longer than usual)
5. Open the Magisk app (press Cancel when asked to perform Additional Setup), choose direct install and reboot

Edit:
Turns out that the phone has root after booting the patched image but magisk does not show the “direct install”. Instead it shows only “patch”.

When I flash the patched_boot.img to the inactive slot and switch to the “patched” slot the phone boots from the “unpatched” slot.

Edit:
My phone is rooted again. With Magisk 27.0 it worked as before (patch boot.img, boot from patched.img using fastboot, open magisk app and press install directly).
The problems are related to Magisk 30.6.
