How to remove Google calendar widget from my lock screen?

Hi, all of a sudden the Google calendar widget appears on my lock-screen, which I do not need nor want. I googled quite a bit to find out how to get rid of it, to no avail. If I press it a bit longer it asks for my pincode after which the screen is no longer locked and the widget disappears, only to return when the screen locks itself. In my phone settings screen lock notifications are off.

Any advice?

Before long-pressing the widget, you have to expand the widget (slide down so that it covers the whole screen). Then you drag it onto the “delete” button that appears:
