Well, if the only official backup way is to send all data to Google, and for an alternative I have to search for an own solution and manually invest a lot of effort, calling it “just the easiest recommendation” does not match how I would call it…
How do you normally back-up?
I copy fotos to my computer manually, and upload messenger backups to my Nextcloud. Mails and contacts are synced anyway. I think this covers the crucial data on my phone and in the unlikely event of a loss I could setup a new phone with this and manual configuration of the apps I use.
But if I already know that my phone will be wiped, I would want a full backup that I can restore without having to spend the effort to setup everything again manually. Something like an image that I dump and restore later. This is how I would backup my computer in such a case. How can I do that?
/if not at all its time to start this.
I would be very happy if I could do so!
Kindly also use the search function as this was discussed many times alteary.
I had search already in the forum before posting, for example for “backup without google”. Unfortunately, this brings up only years-old posts for previous Fairphone generations.
The only real suggestion I found was NeoBackup, which I have looked at. However, this seems to backup only individual apps, and not the full system with its configuration. To me it seems like a good solution for restoring a particular app that was deleted or so, but not like a solution for a full system backup. At least I would not be confident that I can restore such a backup and have a phone that is just as I had before.
Thus I would like to kindly ask you if you have a few particular pointers on how to perform a full system backup of a Fairphone 5? I guess this would also be valuable as a pinned post or so, or as an FAQ entry.
