How to do a full backup when rooted?

That clearly is not the case and just tje easiest recommendation. Without root you have to back what you need manually data by data, App by App. How do you normally back-up?/if not at all its time to start this. Kindly also use the search function as this was discussed many times alteary.

Well, if the only official backup way is to send all data to Google, and for an alternative I have to search for an own solution and manually invest a lot of effort, calling it “just the easiest recommendation” does not match how I would call it…

I copy fotos to my computer manually, and upload messenger backups to my Nextcloud. Mails and contacts are synced anyway. I think this covers the crucial data on my phone and in the unlikely event of a loss I could setup a new phone with this and manual configuration of the apps I use.

But if I already know that my phone will be wiped, I would want a full backup that I can restore without having to spend the effort to setup everything again manually. Something like an image that I dump and restore later. This is how I would backup my computer in such a case. How can I do that?

I would be very happy if I could do so!

I had search already in the forum before posting, for example for “backup without google”. Unfortunately, this brings up only years-old posts for previous Fairphone generations.

The only real suggestion I found was NeoBackup, which I have looked at. However, this seems to backup only individual apps, and not the full system with its configuration. To me it seems like a good solution for restoring a particular app that was deleted or so, but not like a solution for a full system backup. At least I would not be confident that I can restore such a backup and have a phone that is just as I had before.

Thus I would like to kindly ask you if you have a few particular pointers on how to perform a full system backup of a Fairphone 5? I guess this would also be valuable as a pinned post or so, or as an FAQ entry.

That is no official back-up way it is as I said a recommendation. Whatever you do or not tjis is only your responsibility, FP xabt make this mandatory or official they are not repsonsible for this.

And again without root there is nothibg like a full back-up

The Google backup is certainly presented as the official way for backing up a Fairphone: https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/8951206995601-How-to-back-up-or-restore-my-data And there are no other ways mentioned in the official docs.

Ok, I have root anyway, so how can I do it then?

I am sorry, but I am still lost even with this link (and I mentioned I had searched already anyway). AFAIS all hits are for other models, except for Is it possible to create and restore from a full, block-level backup of the Fairphone 5? - #3 by AndreasChris where the conversation ended without a real conclusion. NeoBackup is also mentioned, but explicitly as “you won’t have a full system backup”. And TWRP, but it seems it is not updated for 2 years and the latest release is for Android 12. Is this the recommendation for non-Google backups on a FP5? Or would you have a more concrete pointer than a search link? That would be highly appreciated.

it doesnt matter if the topics are tagged with FP3/4/5/6 its always the same tools you can use. TWRP is no solution already since years due to encryption.

Check for Neo backup or Swift Backup, both were mentioned in the forum before.

As this was going fully off-topic I moved it here.

Hi, yes it is wired that a Ggggle-account is the preferred way - for me a no-go. So for now I used swift backup, as non-rooted I’ve to use it with shizuku to backup and restore apps and data.

I wonder why there is no way to get kind of .img as usual for Linux distros; what a pity that adb lost that ability!
