How does the fairphone 2 manage data if an SD card is declared as internal storage?

Hey guys,

my old SD card (which was set up as a separate storage) has died. Fortunately, I only place my music and some non-important files on my sd-card…so all of that is backed up anyway on my NAS.
Now how does fairphone manage the data if I set my new sd-card up as internal storage? What if it dies? Do I lose important data? How do I tell fairphone to only use it as music storage?
