When you encounter problems with the performance of your phone and you want to rule out that a corrupt app might be the cause, you can use Safe mode. I tried it. Rebooted to safe mode. Worked. Rebooted to exit safe mode.
All my widgets were gone, some of my accounts were gone. Spent about an hour to reconfigure everything.
