I’m really puzzled by what’s happened here, and it may not be specific to the Fairphone, but I’m posting as really I’m fishing for ideas.
About a week ago, all my payment cards disappeared from Google wallet. (It was somewhat embarrassing as I had just ordered coffee, but I won’t dwell on that!) The loyalty cards were still there, and the payment cards were still registered in Google Pay, but they had been removed from the list of contactless payment methods.
I did notice that earlier in the day the main Google app had been updated. It appears that’s the app that holds all the G-Pay data, the wallet app is just the UI, so I suspected that was the cause.
It was a pain trying to restore the cards as the banks all detected something suspicious and declined to allow them to be added again. It took some phone calls to get my most-used cards working again.
I put it down to a one-off glitch, but then yesterday it happened again. For now I can’t risk relying on my phone for payment, and am having to carry my cards around again.
Has anyone else encountered this, or heard of it happening, on any Android phone? I can’t see it’s hardware as everything else works fine. I’m still running AOS 11 as I need fingerprint support.
