Getting a Fairphone 6 in the United States - tarrifs?

Looking to purchase a FP6 in the US.

I reached out to Clove regarding tariffs and shipping and they said check forums. Reddit has nothing recent.

Anyone know how the tariff situation is from the UK to the US? It’s supposed to be 10% but last year people said that’s hit or miss. And does the shipper charge a lot of extra fees? UPS and DHL are the two options and they’re about the same cost on Clove’s website.

Have a look at this article about Fairphone America.

Their prices are >$200 higher for the phone (and a forked OS).

Their prices for accessories are a lot higher too - >$25 more for the flip case, >$15 more for the basic case. If I didn’t feel like they were ripping me off, I’d go their way. Most people I see talking about the FP6 in the U.S. are dissuaded by the pricing. Murena’s giving the FP a bad rep here. :frowning:

Perhaps the higher prices are due to extra taxes raised by America.

At least Murena’s price tags in the US are including customs duties and taxes.

“Countries to which we ship with all taxes and customs duties included (so you receive no extra bill from customs): any EU country, USA, Norway, Switzerland, UK, Iceland, Guernsey, Jersey, Australia, New Zealand.”

Seeking other options is fair.
There’s a chance handling customs and taxes oneself will result in a lower end price. Many Europeans directly import stuff from Asia instead of choosing the comfort option of letting a vendor or store deal with this at a higher end price.

One thing to consider, though, is support.
Murena will support devices sold by them in the US, Fairphone do not support devices in the US (currently). That’s surely part of Murena’s pricing, too.
