FP6 [Unofficial] LineageOS 22.2

Hi,

I just joined the forum as I’m looking into getting me the FP6 (Alas, still saving). I have loads of old phones, all with Cyanogenmod/Lineage, but all have some issue that can’t be repaired. My last attempt was a Samsung A13, nice specs (for what I need) but I had to stick with the official rom. That didn’t go well.

As the previous FairPhones have Lineage support, I was wondering, is somebody already working on a build for the 6? I could help a tad, but my knowledge is a bit dated. I’ve maintained the Samsung Tab S2 for a while and I’m now working my way back into the code with teh Tab S9, but I hope to be able to be of use when the project already has started.

Greetings,

KoffieNu (also on github under this name)

Hi and welcome to forum
So far I think today is first day I noticed bootloader unlocking code being available. Also maybe it would be good to wait a bit for /e/ to release their ROM as lot of work will probably be done by them by now (I admit I know too little to verify you can take their work on devices and backport it to lineageOS).

The LineageOS port for the Fairphone 3 back then profited from the work done for the earlier /e/OS release.

That is good news. I’m almost at the point sthat the gts9wifi sources I found are working again. (looks abandoned) The moment I have enough saved for an fp6 I can start tinkering with it.

Just to leave that link here in case its somehow useful

And maybe is is anything helpful in the FP5 topic

Also … (I don’t know how relevant this is, but linking to it can’t hurt either) …

Thanks, following WeAreFairphone on github.

Not really an answer, but many thanks for your work! My Tab S2 is still running with the latest LOS available.

You’re welcome. I’m glad my 8" is still working, as it’s a great e-reader.
I hope I can get my hands on an fp6 (maybe after birthday next month) and start coding for that.

At the FP shop the FP6 with /e/ OS by Murena is already available.

As /e/OS is based on LineageOS I wonder how long it takes until LOS will be available for the FP6 - is there any educated gues? Is the development already started (as /e/ seems already finished it has to, or am I wrong)?

Is murena and /e/ also affected by the hurdles Google is putting for open source forks of the AOSP? Or do /e/ have any other workorund than LineageOS for the google problematic?

Mind that it’s just about waiting for now, because Fairphone just released the sources, but /e/OS Sources (Basically even Lineage OS Sources, because /e/Os is based on Lineage) are:

STILL CLOSED SOURCE

(Somehow…).
But i think we need to wait, even because i prepared the LineageOS enviroment so i could build it for the Fp6, but… discovered this sadly…
And Fairphone team released everything, so, matter of some days and i’ll try to make a build and see if it works (Can’t promise anything tho…)

I won’t use my Fairphone 6 as a daily driver until there’s a stable & degoogled ROM available. So I can help testing stuff if needed for now.

Is a custom rom for FP6 available?

https://doc.e.foundation/devices/FP6

Thanks! I read, that the sources are not available and didn’t think of the ROM itself.

For those who are waiting for LineageOS and are using /e/OS as an alternative: I made an APModule that removes almost all of the murena-apps & -services. So you’re left with only essential apps, bringing it a bit closer to a LineageOS+MicroG experience.

As already mentioned above, most of the sources are available here (resp. following a link mentioned in this topic):

Maybe this helps.

Do we know if the moments switch will be useable/configurable on Lineage? The /e/OS version only supports a privacy mode to turn off the camera and microphone.

The binary blobs are now available. So, the LineageOS development can now start! :tada:
