FP6 Restart the phone to load the corresponding configuration - 15.148.0 - US/Canada

Yeah. Taking the Sim out, putting it in airplane mode, safe booting, none of these help.

Adding another example:

  • Fairphone 6, Canada, Bell network
  • Original system language was english (Aus), changed to English (Can), resets still occurred.
  • Phone was resetting, on average, every 3 mins
  • Turned off accessories (microphone, Bluetooth, camera, airplane mode) and after 15 mins the forced reset has not yet occurred

Will turn on accessories, one by one, and see if anything specific triggers the reset.

Edit: turned on all accessories but remained in airplane mode. Phone stayed on for 75mins. Turned off airplane mode, phone reset after 5 mins. Then again in 2 mins. Next step, have turned off 5G from my physical Sim. Let’s see how long until reset.

Edit2: 10mins. Now, I guess I’ll turn off 4G?

I got a reboot even after factory reset. Not connected to any accessories, networks or WiFi. Sometimes the reset comes after tens of minutes. You’re likely experiencing that while shuffling the accs.

At this point I’m waiting for another update and back to the Pixel. I’m lucky to have another device. Otherwise things would be ugly.

Yes English is what I’m set to. Also I haven’t had a restart since this morning when I had two. Which is hopeful but not helpful for solving anything. I changed nothing to contribute to the change.

I’m in the same boat with random restarts after the September 30th/October 1st update. I’m in Canada and have two SIMs: an eSIM for Rogers in Canada, and a physical SIM for Telekom in Germany. Typically, I have both active with no issues. Now, any variation of one SIM or the other, with or without data enabled, 5G or not, 4G calling or not, etc. all result in restarts eventually. Sometimes quickly, sometimes after an hour or so. The only way I can stop the random restarts is by enabling airplane mode.

Good morning on day 2.

My phone stayed, believing the up time information in settings, on all night in airplane mode. I was hoping maybe a date change would solve - but the phone restarted within minutes of taking it out of airplane mode. I think it is now safe to say this is specific to fairphones trying to connect to mobile networks in the US and Canada, whether roaming or natively (if you remove the SIM, but don’t switch on airplane mode the phone will still connect to a mobile network to comply with rules regarding 911 calling).

My new Fairphone 6 has been randomly restarting on a daily basis after the update.

Language is on Danish.

I think this is very helpful information. From what I have heard in recent years, this is what cell phones used to work like over here in Germany in the past as well – until this was stopped (allegedly too many people abused it to spam emergency services). I do not know if this was discontinued in other European countries as well.

can you kindly confirm the SIM Provider and if you are in US or Canada at the moment and if it “only” restarts or if you also see the notification “Restart the phone to load the corresponding configuration.”

Did you try any of the above mentioned and I dont think the language setting is really having any impact.

At the moment I would say there might be different problems.

Edit: this doesn’t seem to be a fix

I have seen this post on reddit -

The fix is easy. Quickly turn on Battery Saver before it reboots again. That seems to prevent whatever task causes the phone to reboot endlessly. Don’t forget to turn off the future that automatically turn it off when the battery reaches 90%.

Maybe worth a quick try? No one else has commented on the post but seems safe enough?

Doesn’t work for me. I was hopeful but my phone just restarted.

Do you have your phone at 60Hz refresh rate set manually? Does a higher one work?

Didn’t help fix it for me. I put it in battery saver as soon as it turned on, but it didn’t change anything.

Edit: It may have less “restarty”. Still doing it, but less.

Hi.

The sim provider is Norlys.

I’m currently in Denmark.

I’ve tried to do a factory since Discovering the problem but it persists. Will try some of the other potential fixes.

Is it possible that this is bluetooth related? I’ve had a number of bluetooth issues with this phone (and continue to, irrespective of this current issue we’re all experiencing), and there was a patch a couple of months ago that addressed a few bluetooth issues.

I ask because I’ve turned bluetooth off entirely and the phone has now been up for an hour and ten minutes now. I don’t think that’s unprecedented but it’s definitely abnormal; it usually restarts sooner than this.

Is anyone else willing to disable bluetooth and see what happens?

I’ve had my phone in airplane mode for about an hour and a half and it hasn’t restarted yet!

My phone was still restarting with bluetooth turned off

Damn. I put it in airplane mode but left bluetooth on and it still restarted, so I thought this might be it.

Just another nail in the coffin -
It hasn’t restarted for 2+ hours - the entire time it has been connected to BT

Adding on that I am having the same issue on T-Mobile in the U.S.. wish I hadn’t updated! Phone is basically unusable.

Having airplane mode on definitely helps so far, but at that point I may as well use my laptop.
