FP6 not being detected by fastboot - can't install /e/OS

Hey Lidwien

Thank you for your post!

Just to be sure that I got it right: The OS-patchlevel needs to be at least the patchlevel of the bootloeader, right?

I’m asking because I got my FP6 on monday and I flashed e/OS.

Today I updated e/OS to the newly released e/OS 3.4 and ‘fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability’ still returns ‘0’

As far as I remember, the security patchlevel of the pre-installed FP OS was something with November and after installing the e/OS update today I expected it to be definitely at least the security patchlevel of the pre-Installed Fairphone OS.

The Date in the e/OS Version is ‘20260114’. So I guess it means that the security patch level is 2026-01-14?

I hope someone can help me with this

Best,

Ralf

what is the “allow OEM unlock” button status in Developer Options ?

I didn’t unlock the Developer Options since I flashed e OS and just did. ‘allow OEM unlock’ is disabled.

enable it,
reboot to fastboot mode,
now what is the output for

fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability

‘allow OEM unlock’ can’t be enabled because ‘bootloader is already unlocked’

this is not the expected behavior…
on my unlocked FP3 i can switch from enable to disable
(even if a pop up message say that rebooting is needed for the change to be taken in account)

.

in my guide i wrote:

and

to keep unlock_ability to 1

Oh dear! I remember that I read that. But after I read your guide and wanted to download e OS, I found the web-installer and used that instead of manually flashing.

I guess it’s too late now to lock the bootloader again?

i won’t encourage you to relock now.
but to take the safe way and restore FairphoneOS also Without Relocking then reinstall /e/ on a sane base before relocking.

since a few mounth i see too much bricked phone on both /e/ and Fairphone Forums !

Thank you! These directions sorted out my issues while I was installing e/OS and it went off without a hitch once I updated all of my drivers!
