FP5 does not charge properly

I have a brand new FP5, bought in the UK. I set it up 3 days ago, and have had it on charge ever since, using an existing USB-C cable, but so far it hasn’t charged the battery beyond 19%!
It’s average charge rate is 2% per hour if I don’t use the phone, ie overnight, and during the day my limited use for a couple of calls, messages and a bit of internet browsing, is reducing the battery power by a similar 2% per hour. By the end of the day, it’s likely to be down to 1% again, and hopefully back up to 19% tomorrow morning!
I have contacted customer services for the supplier I bought it from, and they couldn’t give me a reason for the slow charge or an easy fix, but promised to contact the manufacturer a.s.a.p. (a likely delay due to the holidays), and I’m waiting to hear back from them.
I’ve read the forum threads about slow charging and two possibilities emerge - either my charging cable is inferior, although it works ok for my tablet, or its a dud phone, which I guess can happen sometimes, and which the supplier will no doubt replace.
Any other possibilities that might help me to get my new phone up and running?

It could be the cable, but it could be also the charger.

It’s definitely unusual. You could install the battery app to measure the current.

Your usage is also unusual to be honest for me, I can’t imagine my phone surviving on only 20 % battery through the day.

Or even the combination of cable and charger.

@BizzyLizzy I moved your post to a seperate topic.

Well, I’m not using the phone as much as I usually would, simply because of the low charge. I’m even thinking of putting my SIM card back into my old phone for a few days, while I let the new phone charge up to 100%, and then see how well the charge lasts.

I i hadthe same problem…bought a Fairphone charger and cable and now the FP 5 charges within a few mins,ca 10-15 mins, completely up to my 90% level!

do you have a different cable and charger? maybe you can borrow one from neighbors friends family?

just to check if it is the charger or the phone that has a problem.

just my feeling says it will be the charger/cable. try to replace it for a recently produced one. if its a older charger it may not work on newer type phones. this technology is changing rapidly.

even if its a Type C the charging protocol was updated to PD some years ago.

i will recemment to use the original charger, like @Eva-Maria posted.
