FP5 Crashed then Force Reboot

, ,

This is the second time it happened. I was just thinking the first time was just after the Android 14 update. Thinking it was just a fluke. Seeing it crash outright while watching a video on my phone a second time out of the blue just went black took a minute to boot back up makes me think its a software bug with the Android 14 update. Has anyone noticed a radom crash then it takes a good minute to reboot the system. I don’t know why this keeps happening without warning. I hope someone can figure this out because it just happened again.

FP5 build number: FP5.UT20.B.041.20240624

I think HW problem or some incompatibility with your installed 3rd app… As my FP5 don’t crash&reboot with A14, not A13 before, simple never crash&reboot from first use in september 2023…

I don’t think so. I use only the play store to install apps. Its random. The screen just went black and did a reboot. Watching videos shouldn’t cause a crash at all. It doesn’t explain why it happened. I have a FP4 with the same SD Card, The same apps, and video stuff on it. And it didn’t crash on Android 13. Its uptime is way over 300 hours of running constantly. I think its a bug that caused the crash to occur. If there was a way to log when this happened i would download the app and run it. It is most likely going to happen again. Just like another topic couldn’t be solved without knowing what happened on a hot day a while ago the phone got unusually hot that day and wasn’t responsive at all.

Just to be sure; your SD Card is set as portable storage?

Yes its set as external. Never had a problem with that setting because I can take it out and put it in a PC if there was an issue. Formatted as ExFat with default Allocation size. Its a 1.5tb card with a lot of videos, pictures, music, books, documents, and podcasts. Everything is backed up in a Raid-10 array with a PC personal cloud storage. Why pay outrageous prices on online storage that could be stolen by Ai or other means after all. Storage manager somehow isn’t displaying the content since the update. The second image is when it was on Android 13.
